The Century Promise Receives $200k State Grant to Fund Student Career Pathways

ALLENTOWN, PA, NOVEMBER 21, 2022 — On November 17th at the start of the Allentown School District board meeting with school district leaders, officials, and community members gathered, Sen. Pat Browne (R-16th District) announced he secured a $200,000 grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support The Century Promise.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support Senator Browne has provided for The Century Promise,” says Yusuf Dahl, CEO of The Century Promise. “The senator’s leadership in advancing educational opportunities for our students has been tremendous. From legislative reforms to financial support, he has been a champion for education in the Commonwealth and the Lehigh Valley.”

As Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, Browne previously secured a $100,000 grant for The Century Promise that played a key role in helping to jumpstart the program.

“When I approached Senator Browne about our idea of guaranteeing jobs for ASD students and providing concrete optimism for their future, his immediate response was, ‘How can I help?’, and he has never stopped,” says Lee Butz, Board Chair of The Century Promise.

At the conclusion of his announcement, ASD School Board Chair Nancy Wilt thanked Senator Browne for his decades of leadership on behalf of ASD officials and families and wished him success in his next chapter.
