Our Methodology

How We Achieve That

CONNECTIONS + COACHING= CAREERS AND COLLEGE

Our Goal is to Drive systemic change by eliminating the divisions between k-12, postsecondary institutions, and workforce development. We aim to align the efforts of educators, employers, and local institutions to create embedded career pathways in high-demand occupations that result in college credits, an industry credential, and employment after graduation or continuing education.

  • Student success coordinators offer assistance to students with various tasks including setting up professional Gmail accounts, refining resumes, accessing the LVHN portal, selecting suitable positions, accurately completing applications, and more.

  • For specific roles, LVHN mandates a preliminary phone screening, which involves completing a questionnaire via email from a recruiter, selecting a screening date, and participating in the phone call with an LVHN recruiter.

In preparation for interviews, students can arrange mock interviews with the student success coordinator, with unlimited practice sessions. Department Managers will contact applicants through email to schedule in-person interviews.

  • To onboard as a new hire, you must complete the necessary paperwork, upload onboarding documents, undergo background checks, provide four professional references, and ensure you have an up-to-date physical examination.

  • As part of our application and interview process, we work with participants to create a 1-year plan that outlines their job responsibilities, educational goals (which may include college courses or opportunities within our company), and a roadmap for career growth.

Once hired, The Century Promise maintains regular communication with our employees throughout their first year on the job. We help them adjust to the professional environment, provide guidance for a smooth transition, and ensure that their 1-year plan is successful, making any necessary changes along the way.

The mission of the Century Promise is to provide every high school student in Allentown with the incentive to succeed by presenting the choice of a clear pathway to college enrollment or guaranteed employment after high school graduation.
